How it all started:
The story of Neerim South Quarry & Excavations Pty Ltd
Neerim South Quarry was started in 1975 by Kenneth ‘Ken’ Gourley and his son William, better know as Bill.
As Bill left school, before he could come and work in the Quarry full-time, Ken sent him to gain a trade qualification so he completed his Mechanical Apprenticeship at Ted Neill Motors in Warragul. Upon completion of this, Bill prompty returned to the Quarry, and began focusing on building the business and his reputation, as a preferred local supplier and highly skilled driver.
History then repeated itself, when Bill’s son Micheal ‘Mick’ finished school. As keen as Mick was to head out and drive trucks, just like his dad, Mick completed his building apprenticeship prior to coming back to work in the family business full-time in 2014, along side his dad, as Bill had done before. Together they worked to develop the business further, buying additional trucks and focusing on the supply & delivery of all of the products we have access to today.
In 2020, Bill’s daughter, Mick’s sister, Kathryn ‘Kat’ joined the family team to partner with Mick and begin setting up the business to enable Bill to retire when he is ready and spend time with his lovely wife Jill.
To this day, the strong family values this business was established with remain, as Mick & Kat have taken over the day to day operation of the business and Bill is preparing to transition to retirement.
Mick & Kat strive to keep building the business, honouring our beginnings with a continued love of partnering with our clients to supply and deliver the best possible products, delivered by our team of highly skilled drivers, including Mick and Bill when he’s around, ensuring the highest quality finish for the project at hand.
Our growing and passionate team in the office ensure that our clients receive the best possible service from start to finish.
From its humble beginnings our Company is continuing to grow and we have big plans for the future to ensure that we continue to provide our clients with everything we can and more!
